The outdoor sleeve is used as part of the egger system for surface heating or surface cooling:
The outer socket has an inner diameter of 16 mm, this corresponds to the outer diameter of the 16 mm pipe. Both are joined with a socket welder and the egger welding attachment 16 mm with a plastic weld.
For supply and return lines from the heating circuit manifold to the heating circuit, the pipe routing is often above the standard length of 16-gauge pipe. With the outer sleeve you can connect individual 16 pipes in a straight line and thus achieve your required length. Since the 16 mm pipe is integrated into the outer sleeve, there is no reduction in the flow cross-section (12 mm). This offers the advantage that less resistance is built up and the egger system requires even less energy in operation.
To make the flow as low resistance as possible for a straight extension, we recommend the following prioritization:
Priority | Resistance | Advantage | Disadvantage |
1. outer sleeve | low | Resistance low | min. Mounting height 24 mm |
2. double nipple | increases | min. Structure height 20 mm | Increases the resistance |
The outer sleeve is made of PP-R. This is a high-quality material from the group of polyolefin thermoplastics. This material is 100% recyclable and is even used in the food industry.
Thanks to its high strength and resistance to internal pressure and high temperatures, it is used mainly in drinking water and heating installations. In addition, the fabric can be easily processed into fittings or pipes. The individual parts can be joined together by plastic welding.
The color of the outer sleeve is called “natural”. This makes the plastic slightly “transparent”, thanks to the lack of dye there is no interference during welding.
You can use any commercially available socket welder for this purpose. However, the egger welding attachments are required. The matching egger welding attachments can also be ordered or borrowed in the complete plastic welding set for assembly.
According to the manufacturer, the outer sleeve has heat resistance up to 96 degrees. However, this varies depending on the system pressure. However, for tempering you need a maximum of 25-30 degrees of warm water.
The density or DIN value of the material is DIN 4726/8077/8078. In the laboratory, a service life of 150 years was calculated under extreme continuous load (10 bar and 60 °C). That’s why when you buy the egger system, you also get a 20-year warranty.

The egger system is not only for home heating and cooling: they can be used for office space, as hall heating, workshop heating or even greenhouse heating.
A great advantage of egger registers: they are suitable for any heat source (gas, oil, solar, district heating, photovoltaic, …) and any surface (tile, PVC, laminate, parquet, wood, …).
In order to mount and connect the registers as a heating and cooling system, you need these egger accessories:
Depending on your needs, you can get packaging units with 50 pieces of outer sleeves each.
Each project is different and has its own dimensions. How many outer sleeves you need depends largely on your circumstances. Based on experience, we recommend you to plan 1 piece of external sleeve per planned heating circuit. The egger team will be happy to help you find the right amount:

During the core renovation of our very old house with 120 m² living space, a low construction height was a critical point. With the egger system, this bottleneck could be successfully solved thanks to only 2 cm of structure.
At first I respected installing the registers myself, but with egger's training and planning I succeeded very well. They were installed in all rooms on the floor and exterior walls. The necessary energy is supplied by solar panels and a heat pump, so it can be cooled pleasantly even in summer.
We now live the 2nd winter in the house and even my wife has never been cold. She always notes that we have a comfortable temperature, but you can't tell where it's coming from!
As a doctor, I immediately recognized the crucial difference between conventional heating and the egger feel-good climate and implemented it in my private home (renovation). The comfort and well-being experience is fascinating and definitely an essential part of our health. I am extremely satisfied with it.
In our new building, we invested (slightly skeptically) in two innovations: a new type of experience gastronomy on the farm and the egger feel-good climate. Both have been enthusiastically received by our customers and we ourselves are very surprised and fascinated by the benefits of the feel-good climate, especially the extremely fast response time and the very low heating water temperature.
After a short explanation by Christian Egger, it was immediately clear to us that we should equip our new yoga center (600 m2) with egger feel-good climate. Due to the fact that our customers are in thermal balance with the yoga room, the body can fully concentrate on yoga and thus achieve the best possible success (regeneration, store vital energy ...). Our customers are totally fascinated by the climate in the yoga center and enjoy it.
