Ceiling heating systems belong to the group of surface heating systems. The heat (or cooling) emitted is based on the principle of thermal radiation and is therefore perceived as particularly pleasant.
Contrary to the misconception that heat could only spread upwards, temperature control via the ceiling works very well. While it is true that warm air rises, the sensation of comfortable warmth or cooling is all about radiant heat.
It is also this radiant heat that provides a pleasant indoor climate. It is the reason why ceiling heaters are so popular. Although very good results can be achieved with the tempering of the ceiling area alone, the perfect indoor climate can be achieved primarily through the combination of floor, wall and ceiling heating.
egger System: Perfect space utilization and low energy costs
Ceiling heating with the egger system, unlike conventional ceiling heating, represents the next generation of panel heating.
Thanks to a parallel instead of serial line system, material can be saved and conserved, and energy costs can be reduced by a further 10 percent. Because the distance between the pipes shrinks to only 8 cm thanks to the parallel technology, the perfect use of space of the ceiling heating takes place.
And best of all: Neither the energy consumption nor the acquisition costs are any higher than with conventional systems. On the contrary, as already mentioned, energy consumption is up to 10 percent lower.
For more information on energy efficiency, we have compared the heating systems.
More details about how the egger system works can be found in the menu item the egger system.
egger system vs. conventional ceiling heating
Comparison | egger ceiling system | conventional ceiling heating* |
---|---|---|
Acquisition costs for 40 m² heated ceiling area | 2.160 € | 4.000 – 8.000 € |
Energy costs | up to 10 % less energy consumption | conventional energy expenditure for ceiling heating |
Pipe spacing | Standard: 8 cm | good: 20 cm, top: 10 cm |
Winter flow temperature for 23 degrees | 25-30 degrees Celsius | 40-60 degrees Celsius |
Temperature loss from input to output | 1-3 degrees | 6-10 degrees |
System | parallel | serial |
Material load/wear | very low | high to very high (depending on pipe spacing) |
Durability | 20 years warranty | up to 10 years warranty |

- Serial flow (conventional pipe routing)
- Parallel flow (egger system)
For which applications is egger ceiling heating suitable?
- New construction
- Redevelopment
- Gentle redevelopment
- Refurbishment despite monument protection
- Bathroom renovation
- Basement renovation (especially cold rooms)
- As a substitute for underfloor heating, for particularly valuable floors (as they are not to be removed or reconsidered).
- Particularly suitable for high old building spaces
How is the egger ceiling heating system installed?
The egger ceiling system can be installed in wet construction (plaster or directly inserted into ceiling formwork), in dry construction (with battens) or in suspended ceilings. The type of installation chosen for your premises depends primarily on the conditions on site and/or on your wishes.
Build up wet or direct:
- Ideal construction: Registers are inserted or plastered directly
- no mechanical pressure on plaster, as no pipe bending is required
- any type of plaster is possible (gypsum, lime, cement, clay, loam), because there is no thermal stress
- any type of plaster is possible (gypsum, lime, cement, clay, loam), because there is no thermal stress
- even “uneven” ceilings are easily possible
Structure dry:
- Structure has a thickness of about 3-4 cm. egger registers are mounted on ceiling with counter-battening (18 mm thickness) and covered with wood paneling, gypsum board or gypsum fiberboard
- No mechanical pressure on dry-build elements, as no pipe bending is required
- No thermal pressure for dry-build elements, as flow and return temperatures are almost identical
Structure suspended:
- Registers are implemented in classic ceilings suspended
- no additional space necessary
- no mechanical pressure on ceiling, as no pipe bending is necessary
- No thermal pressure for ceiling, since flow and return temperature are almost identical
